Christian Patzka (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) and Gunner Schlender (Brillion, Wis./Brillion) highlighted the Warhawks on the final day of the NCAA Division III Indoor Track. The Warhawk pair competed in the Men's 3000m.
Patzka made his jump early, running in the top three around the 800m mark. The senior joined the second pack of runners, pacing slightly in the middle portion of the race. Patzka slowly worked his way back up, running his final lap in 30.59, finishing 5th overall in the event with a time of 8:14.41.
Schlender started out the race towards the back of the pack, but slowly moved up to the top ten runners at the half way point. With only three laps left, Schlender settled back towards the end of the runners, sitting in 17th at the 2600m mark. But the senior saved the bets for last, shooting up five spots with a 31.40 time in his penultimate lap. Schlender placed 13th overall with a time of 8:22.19.
At the conclusion of the Championship, the Warhawk men's team finished 13th overall with 15 total team points.
