De La Cerda Breaks Program Record, Warhawks Fifth at WIAC Championships

Stevens Point, Wis. -- The UW-Whitewater women's track and field team finished fifth at the 2025 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Stevens Point. 

The Warhawks totaled 58 points over the course of the two-day meet. Ari De La Cerda (Milwaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) highlighted Saturday for UWW, breaking the program record in the 3,000. The senior registered a 10-second personal best for a time of 10:01.17. That mark breaks the program record that UW-Whitewater Hall of Famer Stephanie Greiber held since 2000. De La Cerda, who now holds five program records, finished third in the event. 

Dakota Mitchell (Sun Prairie, Wis./West) was flying in the 60-meter dash. The freshman was clocked in 7.73 - the second-fastest time in program history - to finish sixth. Cici Stennett (Barrington, Ill./) added eighth-place points to the team total with a time of 7.82. Mitchell tallied another top ten time in program history in the 200. Her clocking of 25.51 was good for fifth at the meet and is seventh in Warhawk history. Danielle Pouska (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) was eighth in the event with a time of 25.69 - the ninth-fastest for UWW. 

Katie Erb (Winnebago, Ill./) crossed the line in 2:18.81 in the 800 to claim sixth while the women's 4x400 relay squad finished eighth. UW-Whitewater's combination of Lily Cooper (Elkhorn, Wis./), Sam Burge (Mukwonago, Wis./), Brynn Fuerstenberg (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) and Hannah Bilodeau (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) crossed the line in 4:12.77 in the relay. 

Kenni Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) led the Warhawks in the field events Saturday with a bronze in the weight throw. The senior registered a mark of 17.98 meters (59-0). 

The Warhawks will have one more chance at qualifying or improving marks for indoor nationals next week. The 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships will be hosted by Nazareth University in Rochester, New York March 14-15. 

Day One Recap
Gracie Holland (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) set a championship record to lead the UW-Whitewater women's track and field team in the first day of competition in the WIAC Indoor Championships hosted by UW-Stevens Point Friday. 

Holland broke her own championship record - one she had held since 2023 - in the pole vault with a height of 3.98 meters (13-0.75). That mark also set the facility record at Skyward Fieldhouse. 

Ari De La Cerda (Milwaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) claimed bronze in the mile with a time of 5:05.87 while Katie Erb (Winnebago, Ill./) added sixth-place points to UWW's total with a clocking of 5:11.53. Hannah Bilodeau (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) posted a career-best time of 58.38 in the 400. That mark was good for fourth Friday and ranks seventh in the UW-Whitewater record book. 

Ella Hansen (Pewaukee, Wis./UW-Parkside) registered a nearly six-second personal best in the 5,000. She crossed the line in 18:18.96 to finish sixth and improve her her time in the program's top 10 list. 

In the shot put, Kenni Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) finished seventh with a toss of12.60 meters (41-4.25). 

The Warhawk combination of Emma Henningfeld (East Troy, Wis./East Troy), Brynn Fuerstenberg (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower), Brinley Everson (Waunakee, Wis./Marquette) and Renee Forystek (Waukesha, Wis./North) were clocked in 13:10.25 for eighth in the distance medley relay. 

A pair of Warhawk sprinters qualified for the finals in the 60 with career bests in the fastest event on the track Friday. Dakotal Mitchell crossed the line in 7.68 while Cici Stennett (Barrington, Ill./) posted a time of 7.71 in the incredibly tight prelims -- second through eighth place were separated by just .06. 

After the first day of competition, UWW is fifth in the team standings with 30 points. UW-Stout is fourth (33) and UW-Oshkosh holds third (35). 

Day two will open with the start of the pentathlon at 10 AM Saturday. Select field events are set to begin at 11 with the women's finals of the 60 hurdles opening track events at 1:50 PM.
