The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis defeated Carthage College in a late night dual match in Racine, Wisconsin.
The Warhawks opened the match down, as the Firebirds took two out of the three doubles flights.
Tyler Nelson (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) and Peyton Adkisson won UWW's lone doubles flight, taking the second flight, 7-5.
Despite losing the doubles point, the Warhawks excelled in the single flights, taking five out of six flights.
Tyler Nelson (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) had the reverse sweep in his singles match. After dropping his first set 2-6. Nelson turned the match around, winning the second and third sets by 6-4, 6-3.
Giovani Vitali had the highlight win of the night, battling for 2-&-a-half hours at No. 3 singles. Vitali opened with a 6-3 first set but dropped the second set in the tiebreaker. The second set tiebreaker lasted 26 points, but Carthage took it 14-12. Vitali opened up in the third set match tiebreak with a 7-0 lead. Carthage closed the gap, but Vitali eked out the win with a 15-13 match tiebreak.
In the night's exhibition matches, the Warhawks won both singles matches and the doubles bout.
