The UW-Whitewater women's track and field team finished second at the team's annual Leonard "Squig" Converse Invitational hosted by the Warhawks in Kachel Fieldhouse.
Three top finishes bolstered UWW Saturday.
Kenni Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) notched a new personal best to win the weight throw. Her heave of 18.17 meters (59-7.5) is the second-best mark in program history and currently sixth in Division III this season. Czarnecki added seventh place points to the team total with a toss of 11.74 meters (38-6.25) in the shot put.
Gracie Holland (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) added another gold in her expertise - the pole vault. Holland registered a height of 3.91 meters (12-10) Saturday. Meanwhile
Brynn Fuerstenberg (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) led a three-Warhawk contingent to finish among the top eight in the high jump. She shared first place honors with a height of 1.62 meters (5-3.75) - a new personal best, a top 10 mark in the UWW record book and a top 30 mark in the Division III indoor performance list for the season.
Danielle Pouska (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) added a fifth place finish while
Zoe Roder (Waukesha, Wis./South) was seventh in the event.
On the track, four Warhawks added points to the team total in the fastest event of the day.
Cici Stennett (Barrington, Ill./) crossed the line in 7.78 to finish second in the 60.
Dakota Mitchell (Sun Prairie, Wis./West) posted a time of 7.84 for fourth with
Kelly Huerta (McHenry, Ill./) and Pouska claiming sixth and eighth respectively. Huerta added a personal best in the 200. Her time of 25.68 was good for third Saturday, is a top 10 mark in UWW history and is among the top 30 nationally this season. Stennett's 25.81 was fourth and another top 10 time in program history followed by Pouska in fifth with a clocking of 26.02.
Hannah Bilodeau (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) was the second runner to cross the finish line in the 400 registering a time of 59.62. The 60 meter hurdles saw
Sam Burge (Mukwonago, Wis./) crossing the line in 9.42 to take seventh in the event.
Katie Erb (Winnebago, Ill./) paced the Warhawks in the mile. Her time of 5:21.81 was third followed by a fifth place finish from
Brinley Everson (Waunakee, Wis./Marquette) and an eighth by
Nicole Brown (Grayslake, Ill./).
Payton Scoggin (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trails) and
Ella Hansen (Pewaukee, Wis./UW-Parkside) finished back-to-back in the 3000. Scoggin led the way with a time of 10:42.70 while
Abbey Wedwick (Westby, Wis./) added eighth place points to the team total.
UW-Whitewater's 4x400 relay combination of Burge,
Angela Dale (Milwaukee, Wis./Nicolet),
Lily Cooper (Elkhorn, Wis./) and Bilodeau were clocked in 4:12.52 to finish second.
