Warhawk Volleyball Sweeps Two in Waukesha

Warhawks defeat Carroll & Ripon at Carroll's Triangular

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team swept both of its matches in Waukesha on Saturday in the triangular against Ripon College and Carroll. 

In their opening match of the day against Ripon, the Warhawks wasted no time jumping out to a lead. UWW took the first set 25-6, hitting 0.455 with only one attacking error. The Warhawks kept up the pace with a 25-17 second set, securing the match with a closer 25-23 third set. 

In the first match, Emily Lego (Rock Falls, Ill./Rock Falls) led the Warhawks with 7 kills & only 2 errors. Kylee Altendorf (West Bend, Wis./West) added 6 kills of her own in 16 attempts without a single error. 

The Warhawk totaled 6.0 blocks defensively against the Red Hawks & had success on the serve, hitting 8 aces in the three-setter. Emma Bludgen (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) had three, with Kyanne Wusterbarth (Oconto, Wis./Oconto) adding two of her own. 

Against the host team, Carroll University, the Warhawks dominated the first two sets, hitting over 0.300 with a 25-13 and then 25-14 set. UW-Whitewater closed out the match for their second sweep of the day with a 25-21 victory.

Abbie Dix (Brodhead, Wis./Brodhead) highlighted the second game with a 10 kill, 1.5 block outing, hitting .467 against the Pioneers. Gaby DiMotto (New Berlin, Wis./West) and Emily Lego (Rock Falls, Ill./Rock Falls) added 8 & 7 kills, respectively. Delaney Ward (Kaukauna, Wis./Kaukauna) & Aubrie Krzus (Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South) rounded out the offense with 6 kills each. 

Kruz also tallied 34 assists, bringing her season total to 974 as she looks for her third straight season with 1,000 assists. 

The Warhawks will wrap up the regular season with a conference match-up against UW-Stevens Point. UW-Whitewater will head up to the Pointers on November 7th for a 7 PM match.
