Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Warhawks Survive Defensive Battle, Defeat UWSP 1-0

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team played a long 90-minute match against UW-Stevens Point to open up their conference season. The Warhawks came out on top & survived in a 1-0 defensive battle.

The Pointers were the first ones to put some early offensive pressure on, putting a shot on goal in the 12th minute to put the first mark in the shots column.

The Warhawk goal came shortly after that on UWW's first shot on goal. Aidan Glancey (Milwaukee, Wis./Whitnall) scored in the 23rd minute off a throw-in pass from Adam Kaup (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln). The Warhawks kept the pressure up, with a late corner kick in the half, but there were no other shots on goal from either side.

After the break, the Warhawks kept dominating the possession, keeping the ball away from the Pointers. The Warhawks had five corner kick opportunities in the first 15 minutes, keeping the ball on the attacking side of the field.

The Pointers made the most of the time with offense, though, putting three shots on goal to try & get back in the game. Austin Waite (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) made all three saves, collecting the clean sheet after his 90 minutes in goal.

The Warhawks return to action on October 11th, taking on UW-Stout in their next conference match-up. Kick-off is set for 7 PM on Saturday.
