The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater finished its non-conference slate of games with a 3-0 win over Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
Luka Breslin (Dublin, Ireland/Terenure College) led the way, scoring two goals for the Warhawks.
Breslin's first goal came midway through the first half, with
Aidan Glancey (Milwaukee, Wis./Whitnall) drawing a foul inside the 18-yard box to earn the penalty kick. Breslin went high-left and the Pioneer keeper went low-right to put the Warhawks up 1-0.Â
The Warhawks weren't able to get much more offensively in the first half, only recording two shots on goal, not counting the PK. But after the break Breslin found the back of the net for a second time.Â
A corner kick opportunity led to multiple shots that ricocheted off the posts of the nets before
Luka Breslin (Dublin, Ireland/Terenure College) was able to knock the ball in from the ground for the brace.
At the 75-minute mark, UWW added one more to put the game away with a three-goal lead.
Nil Calvo (Barcelona, Spain/Parkview) lasered a shot from over 20 yards out, putting it right over the keeper's fingers for his first collegiate goal.Â
Austin Waite (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) held down the goal for the full 90 minutes, needing only one save for his 10th win of the season and 4th solo clean sheet.
The Warhawks will finish out their regular season on October 31st, facing UW-Platteville in a WIAC contest. The Pioneer/Warhawk match will mark the 12th annual Shaymus Guinn Cup as well as Senior Night.Â
