The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team took an important win in WIAC-play over UW-Oshkosh. With the win, the Warhawks move up to 3rd place in the conference, with two games remaining.

The Warhawks didn't waste much time getting on the board, with Rowan Severson (Mount Horeb, Wis./Mount Horeb) scoring the game-opening goal in just the 7th minute. Brooklynn Carlson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central) set-up Severson for a shot about 20 yards out. 

With the 1-0 lead, the Warhawks were able to put some pressure on the Oshkosh defense, controlling the possession battle in the first half. The Warhawks held the Titans to just one shot on goal, with no corner opportunities in the first half. 

Coming out of halftime, UW-Oshkosh made some adjustments to put some pressure on the Warhawk defense. It paid off in the 70th minute, the Titans earned a corner, tying the game up with an olympico from the corner.

UW-Oshkosh kept up the pressure that they weren't able to get in the second half, putting eight total shots on goal in the second half. Jude Dobrinska (Milwaukee, Wis./Ronald Reagan College Prep) made seven saves to keep the Titans at just one goal. 

With less than 10 minutes remaining, Karina Osborn (Arena, Wis./River Valley) was able to break through the defense for the eventual game-winner. Osborn's shot came from nearly 35 yards out, hitting the top post of the goal before bouncing into the net to break the deadlock.

The Warhawks held onto the lead, securing the three points for the conference standings.

UW-Whitewater will return to action this weekend against UW-Stout. The game will kick-off at 5 PM on October 25th at Fiskum Field.
