The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team picked up their 10th win of the season with a dominant conference win over UW-River Falls. The Warhawks defeated the Falcons 5-0 after
Cooper Re (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) and
Hayden Saul (Iowa City, Iowa/Liberty) each scoring two goals each.
Hayden Saul (Iowa City, Iowa/Liberty) started the day with the first goal of the game in the 10th minute.
Alex Nelson (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) set up the goal on a long throw-in, which
Aidan Glancey (Milwaukee, Wis./Whitnall) headed over to Saul for his first goal of the game.Â
The Warhawks kept on the attack, with
Tyler Chrisman (Lemont, Ill./Lemont Township) adding a brace in the 26th minute.
Mason Diercks (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) put pressure on the Falcons with a shot, but the block went right back to Diercks who quickly touched it over to Chrisman for the goal to the bottom left.Â
The Warhawks had a two goal lead heading into the break, dominating the first half with 15 total shots compared to UWRF's three. The Warhawks also kept the pressure up with seven corners in the first 45.
After the break,
Cooper Re (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) extended the lead with back-to-back goals. Re's first was a header in from a a corner from Chrisman. The second came from a long throw-in from
Alex Nelson (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee), with
Luka Breslin (Dublin, Ireland/Terenure College) heading it over for Re's 11th goal of the season.
Hayden Saul (Iowa City, Iowa/Liberty) put the feather in the cap in the 68th minute, putting the Warhawks up 5-0 over the Falcons.
Owen Winegar (Arlington Heights, Ill./Fremd) had the initial attack, with his shot getting blocked by a defender.
Kian Delaney (Oak Forest, Ill./Victor J Andrew) collected the deflection to cross it over for Saul's second goal of the game.
The Warhawks had four players with over two points, Re (2 goals), Saul (2 goals), Chrisman (1 goal, 1 assist), and Nelson (2 assists).
The Warhawks get just one day of rest before playing another back-to-back series on Fiskum Field. On Tuesday, October 21st, the Warhawks take on 13th-ranked Lake Forest College. Then on Wednesday, October 22nd, UWW will take on Millikin in the first part of a double header with the Warhawk Women's program.
