Re's Quick Hat Trick Sets Tone for Warhawk Win

Cooper Re scores opening 3 goals for a hat trick in just under 5 minutes

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team defeated the University of Dubuque on Saturday night. Senior forward Cooper Re (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) collected his second hat trick of the season, kick-starting the Warhawks' day with three goals in the first 10 minutes of the game.

The Warhawks took a quick lead in the 5th minute, with Cooper Re (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) scoring his first goal with a header into the net off a corner kick from Tyler Chrisman (Lemont, Ill./Lemont Township).

UWW added a brace with another goal from Re, this time coming from Mitchell Tackney (Dubuque, Iowa/Dubuque Hempstead) and Tyler Chrisman (Lemont, Ill./Lemont Township) during a breakaway with 9:25 on the clock. Only 15 seconds after play resumed, Re finished the hat trick with another breakaway goal to put on the hat in only 4 minutes and 50 seconds (4:50-9:40).

The Spartans were able to get one on the board before the half, narrowing the Warhawk lead to just one, but Aidan Glancey (Milwaukee, Wis./Whitnall) extended the margin out before the break, scoring off a pass from Luka Breslin (Dublin, Ireland/Terenure College).

The Warhawks tacked on one more in the second half, with Owen Winegar (Arlington Heights, Ill./Fremd) scoring his first goal of the season. Kian Delaney (Oak Forest, Ill./Victor J Andrew) and James Kiraly (Twin Lakes, Wis./Wilmot Union) were awarded the assists on Winegar's goal.

The Warhawks played a clean game, with no cards & just seven fouls over the 90 minutes. Austin Waite (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) held down the net, making six saves with only one goal allowed.

The Warhawks return to Fiskum Field tomorrow, Sunday, October 19th, taking on UW-River Falls in their next WIAC match. Kick-off is set for 4 PM in Whitewater.
