Whitewater, Wis. -- The No. 4 UW-Whitewater volleyball team added two tallies to the win column with a pair of Saturday sweeps. The Warhawks opened the day with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-20) win over Carroll before capping the UW-Whitewater Invitational with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-13) victory over Lawrence.
UWW hit .245 against the Pioneers registering double digit kills in all three sets. The defense held Carroll to single digits in the kill column and a team attack percentage of just 0.022.
Emily Lego (Rock Falls, Ill./Rock Falls) and
Faith Corbett (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) paced the Warhawk offense with nine kills each.
Gaby DiMotto (New Berlin, Wis./West) added eight while putting the pressure on from the service line with three aces.
Aubrie Krzus (Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South) posted 31 assists and led the UW-Whitewater defense at the net with six blocks. Libero
Natalie Lawton (Elmhurst, Ill./IC Catholic Prep) led all players with 12 digs.
The Warhawks cruised in match two hitting a phenomenal .449 as a team. That mark is second-best in program history in the 25-point, rally scoring era.
Middles
Abbie Dix (Brodhead, Wis./Brodhead) and
Amanda Hillmann (Cedarburg, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) were stellar hitting .667 and .750 respectively. The duo combined for 21 kills while committing just two attack errors. Defensively at the net, Dix posted seven blocks and Hillmann added a pair. Krzus tallied 36 assists in the contest.
