Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Free-Kick Game-Winner from Mouille lifts Warhawks over Cornell

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team scored in the final minutes to take home the win. Jacob Mouille (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) connected on a last-chance oppurtunity to put the Warhawks ahead for good, defeating Cornell 3-2.

First Half
After a few days of rest coming off of three games straight, the Warhawks got right back to work scoring two goals in the first six minutes of the game.

Fionnbharr Hartnett (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) got things started scoring the Warhawks first goal on a corner set-piece from Zack Kristy (Burr Ridge, Ill./Lyons Township). Less than a minute later, Hayden Saul (Iowa City, Iowa/Liberty) scored the second goal putting UWW up 2-0. Kristy showed off his passing skills again, earning the assist on the first two goals.

The first two Warhawk goals were the first goals allowed by Cornell on the season. Cornell also didn't want their own shutout, as they scored in the 31th-minute to close the gap.

Cornell tied up the game with just 3-seconds left in the first half, sending the Warhawks into the break with a tied game.

Second Half
Each team took their turn putting offensive pressure in the second half, but neither team's defense cracked, keeping the game tied at 2-2.

The Warhawks capitalized on a late penalty, with Jacob Mouille (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) scoring the game-winning goal on a free kick.

With only 2:30 left, the Warhawk defense sealed the game, not allowing any attack from the Cornell offense.
