The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer found themselves down late, but an equalizer in the 80th minute tied up the game. Despite some more opportunities late, the Warhawks were unable to take the comeback.
1st Half:
After an onslaught of goals in the first two games of the season, UW-Whitewater was unable to find the back of the net in the first 45 minutes of the game.
The ball didn't cross the goal, but the Warhawks offensive presence was still felt, with five corners and five shots on goal. In turn, the Sabres didn't have a single shot attempt on net, with the Warhawks controlling the flow of the game.Â
2nd Half:
The Warhawks kept up the offensive attack in the second half, putting another eight shots on goal. However, it was the Sabres that put the first point on the board, finding the top right of the goal to go up 1-0 in the 77th minute.
With time waning, the Warhawks looked to grab an equalizer. Only 4 minutes after Marian's goal, UWW found its answer on a corner kick.
Cooper Re's (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) corner went to the far post, with
Peyton Nichols (Green Bay, Wis./Bayport) heading it to the middle for
Dominic Mudlaff (Muskego, Wis./Waukesha Catholic Memorial) to score the equalizer.Â
With 10 minutes remaining, the Warhawks kept going to try to eke out the win. None of the four shots found the mark as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.Â
