The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team displayed yet another night of high-scoring soccer in front of the home crowd. The Warhawks defeated Rockford 6-1, scoring three goals in each half.
1st Half
While not as quick as yesterday, it didn't take long for the Warhawks to get on the board, with
Luka Breslin (Dublin, Ireland/Terenure College) lighting up the scoreboard at the 2-minute mark After an attempted clear by Rockford,
Matt White (Bangor, Northern Ireland/Bangor Grammar) headed it back to Breslin who had great position to finish the strike.Â
Breslin would also be the one to score the Warhawks second goal of the night, finishing off a corner set-piece.
Aidian Martin's (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) pass from the corner reached Breslin on the far-side to put the ball in the net.Â
For the third goal,
Owen Winegar (Arlington Heights, Ill./Fremd) found
Cooper Re (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) on a through pass. Re finished the job by sneaking the ball underneath the diving keeper.
2nd Half
Tucker Jahns (Elburn, Ill./Kaneland) kept things rolling in the second half, putting away a two-touch after a cross from
Cooper Re (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) found its mark.Â
Jahns would also be a part of the second goal of the half, giving the extra pass after Breslin got it past the Regents backline.
Sam Bilyk (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park & River Forest) made the strike into the open net to give the Warhawks a 5-0 lead.
Rockford found their only goal of the night on a penalty kick at the 78-minute mark to make it 5-1.
The Warhawks added one more goal before the end of 90.
James Kiraly (Twin Lakes, WI/Wilmot Union) picked up his third goal of the season, with
Owen Winegar (Arlington Heights, Ill./Fremd) earning the assist on the play.Â
