Theo Billson (Lindfield, England/BHASVIC) and Reuben Giorgio (Perth, Western Australia/Applecross) were crowned champions of the ITA Midwest Regional Doubles Bracket after winning six matches through the weekend.

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team wrapped up the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional Invite on Sunday, September 29th. 

Tyler Nelson (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) reached the quarterfinals of the singles bracket the day before and faced off against the fourth-seeded Gage Gohl of Gustavus Adolphus.

In the opening match of the day, Nelson dropped the first set 6-1, but made the second set a bit closer, falling 7-5 in the quarterfinal match.

On the doubles side. Theo Billson (Lindfield, England/BHASVIC) and Reuben Giorgio (Perth, Western Australia/Applecross) opened their day with a 8-6 win over the Gage Gohl and Tyler Haddorff from Gustavus Adolphus. Gohl/Haddorf came into the Invite as the top seed in the bracket as well as the NCAA Doubles National Champions from a season ago.

With the win in the semifinal round, the Warhawk pair secured a spot in the ITA National Cup held in Rome, GA on October 10th-12th.

The pair were met in the championship match against another pair from Gustavus, the second-seed Josh Christensen/Marco Siviero.

The Warhawks won the first set in a close set tiebreaker, 7-6(4). GAC looked to get back some momentum, picking up the second set 4-6 and forcing a third-set match tiebreak. Billson and Giorgio kept the momentum on their side and won the match 10-4. 

With the win in the championship match, Billson and Giorgio both earned automatic All-American Honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
