The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Men's Tennis team started off the 2024 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Invite hosted by Gustavus Adolphus on Friday, September 27th.

The Warhawks entered the invite with 12 individuals competing in the singles competition & six doubles pairs. After the first day, six Warhawk singles advance through the first two rounds & will compete in the Round of 32 starting tomorrow. 

Drew Van Fossen (Germantown, Wis./Germantown), Reuben Giorgio (Perth, Western Australia/Applecross), Tyler Nelson (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee), Giovani Vitali, and Theo Billson (Lindfield, England/BHASVIC) all received first round byes. In the Round of 64, all five picked up their match to secure a spot in the second day of competition. 

Charles Morgan (Naperville, Ill./Central) was the lone Warhawk to go 2-0 on the day, defeating Rincon (UWEC) in a close match in the first round. Morgan dropped the first set 4-6, but bounced back in a tightly contested 7-5 second set. Morgan moved onto the Round of 64 with a 10-8 second set. Morgan then defeated Willett (Grinnell) 6-2, 6-0 to advance to the Round of 32. 

Chase Lindwall (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) advanced to the Round of 64, with a tight 10-8 set tiebreaker in his first round match. Lindwall also forced a third-match tie breaker in his Round of 64 match, falling in a marathon set 20-18. Andrew Dumbauld (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) defeated his first round opponent in a quick 6-1, 6-0, but fell in the Round of 64 in the third set-tiebreaker, 13-11.

Out of the six doubles pairs, five advance into the Round of 32. Results were posted late Friday night.
