The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater played closely with the 25th-ranked North Park, but the late comeback fell short as the Warhawks fell 4-2 to the ranked Vikings.
First Half
The Warhawks got things started quickly with a goal in the 10th minute.
Cooper Re (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) capitalized on a throw-in towards the net, flicking it over the keeper to open up the scoreboard.
North Park looked to equalize quickly, putting up six shots on goal in the first half alone. The Warhawks lone shot on goal was Re's goal in the first 10 minutes.Â
North Park tied it up at 1-a-piece with a give-and-go goal in 32nd-minute
Second Half
The Warhawks came out of the break with some more offensive attack, with four corner kick opportunities in the first 20 minutes of the half.Â
North Park were the ones to strike first in the second half, however, scoring on their own corner kick opportunity to put them up 2-1 in the 70th. The Vikings would go on to score their third unanswered goal shortly after, finding a break away opportunity to give the bracer.
Zack Kristy (Burr Ridge, Ill./Lyons Township) closed the gap in the 78th-minute, placing the ball right over the keeper to close the Viking lead to just one goal.
Hayden Saul's (Iowa City, Iowa/Liberty) throw-in found
Tucker Jahns (Elburn, Ill./Kaneland) who was able to get it to Kristy for the Warhawk goal.
North Park re-extended their lead with just 2 minutes remaining, ending hope for a Warhawk comeback against the ranked opponent.Â
