The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team topped UW-Eau Claire 8-1 Saturday afternoon.
The Warhawks swept doubles play with UWW's No. 1 pairing of
Cassie Lee (Downers Grove, Ill./Timothy Christian) and
Gracie Ha (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) bringing in the first victory of the day, 8-2 over Samantha Fuchs and Anna Lee.
Ava Andrae (Cedarburg, Wis./) and Abigail Weaver wrapped up their win, 8-6, over Beatriz Felchak and Reese Burton at No. 2 doubles next. The final duo of
Molly Asfeld (Waukesha, Wis./West) and
Alex Repplier (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) defeated Oliva Herzog and Morgan Dekan 8-5.
In singles competition, Lee took the top singles flight in a tiebreak (3-6, 6-2, 10-7) over Fuchs. Ha dropped her No. 2 singles battle against Lee in another tiebreak, 1-6, 6-2, 10-5.
UW-Whitewater captured the wins in the other four singles flights. Asfeld took down Herzog 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Weaver topped Felchak by the same score at No. 4. Repplier took No. 5 singles 7-5, 6-1 over Dekan and
Sarah Ferguson (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) wrapped up the victory with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Burton.
The Warhawks will be back on the courts for the ITA Midwest Regional in St. Peter, Minnesota September 20-23.
