Late Luther Goals Send Warhawks into Draw with Norse

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team took an early two-goal lead, but Luther tied it up late after scoring back-to-back goals in the waning minutes to force the draw.

1st Half
The Warhawks scored their first goal on Fiskum Field for the 2024 season early in the game. The Luther goalie was unable to control a corner kick, giving Jordyn Czarapata (Muskego, Wis./) a look at the top of the goal.

With Czarapata's goal, the Warhawks looked to add another before the end of the half. The Warhawks took three more shots on net in the first 45 minutes & had a close miss from Gianna Zamborini (Louisville, Ken/duPont Manual) that bounced off the right post.

2nd Half
The Warhawks didn't take too long in the second half to add a bracer goal, with UW-Whitewater scoring on another corner set. This time Emily Thill (West Chicago, Ill./St. Francis) placed the ball perfectly for Belle Blauert (Anoka, Minn./) to head it into the net.

The Warhawks kept up the offensive attack, with another two shots bouncing off the crossbar and four more shots on goal but the Luther keeper turned away all the attempts.

Luther closed down the lead with 6 minutes, with a shot from Megan Miller into the top-right-most corner of the goal. With their first goal of the 2024 season, Luther had a new drive to chase the Warhawk lead.

With three minutes left, Luther found themselves in a breakaway play, tying up the game at 2-2 with three minutes left.

The Warhawks went on their counterattack to try to reclaim the lead. UW-Whitewater took two shots in the final minute, but both sailed high as the 90 minutes expired in a draw.
