Warhawk Men Fourth at WIAC Championships

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's track and field team finished fourth at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by UW-Platteville Saturday. Shelvin Garrett II (Beloit, Wis./Memorial) and Christian Patzka (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) claimed golds on the final day of competition in the championship.

Garrett II secured gold in his signature event, the triple jump. His mark of 15.17 meters (49-9.25) won the event by four inches. Teammate Jordan Hall (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn) added fourth-place points to the team total with a leap of 14.50 meters (47-6.75) to jump into the top 20 nationally in the event.

That mark is a career best by over two-tenths of a second and is third-fastest in Warhawk history. Andy VanZile's (New Berlin, Wis./West) time in the 100 meter dash, 10.76, was eighth at the meet. Bojar added a time of 21.70 to finish sixth in the 200 - a top ten time in program history.

A pair of Warhawks finished among the top eight in the 5,000 meter run. Dan Anderson (Eau Claire, Wis./McDonell) finished as the runner-up in the event with a time of 14:46.10. Chris Allen (Downers Grove, Ill./North) came in fourth, posting a time of 14:55.18.
