The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's track and field team topped the field at the Rex Foster Twilight in Whitewater Friday evening.
In the fastest event of the day, the Warhawks swept second through seventh places.
Andy VanZile (New Berlin, Wis./West) led the way with time of 10.74 - a mark that ranks among the top 35 nationally this season - to finish second. He was followed by, in order,
Ben Bojar (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee),
Carsen Rindt (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran),
Caleb Beightol (Belgium, Wis./Cedar Grove-Belgium),
Issac Stanger (New Prague, Minn./New Prague) and
Adam Kunny (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier).
Marlon Cystrunk (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) and
Tamir Thomas (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) went 1-2 in the 100 hurdles. Cystrunk posted a time of 14.72 - a top 15 mark nationally. Thomas' 14.96 is ranked among the top 25 in Division III while
Tristan Ropiak (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) added a sixth-place finish for UWW.
Kobe Chandler (Beloit, WI/Memorial) led a five-Warhawk contingent to finish in the top eight in the 200. His 22.24 was tops at the meet while
Nick McFadden (Waukesha, Wis./Pewaukee) was third,
Charlie Wiegel (Monroe, Wis./Monroe) fifth,
Brad Heller (Brookfield, WI/East) seventh and Stanger eighth. In the 400,
Darin Laux (Hartford, WI/) led UWW with a time of 51.88 to finish fourth.
Cole Worrall (Rhinelander, WI/) led the Warhawks in the 400 hurdles with a third-place time of 59.19.
Wyatt Baker (Wayzata, MN/) was sixth in the event.
Christian Patzka (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) registered a top 15 time in Division III this season to lead the pack in the 1500 meter run. He crossed the line in 3:53.27 while
Tucker Johnson (Poynette, Wis./Poynette) finished seventh.
The 3,000 steeplechase saw five Warhawks finish among the top eight led by
Chris Allen's (Downers Grove, Ill./North) 9:35.97.
Brandon Gang (Waukesha, Wis./West),
Jonah Block (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay),
Keegan Bratt (Waukesha, WI/West) and Conner Murphy swept the next four spots.
In high jump,
Ben Bunton (Hartford, Wis./Hartford) posted a height of 1.90 meters (6-2.75) to finish as the runner-up.
Spencer Steffen (Appleton, Wis./West) and
Jared Sudbrink (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) tied for fourth while Jonathan Weah was eighth in the event.
Brady Schaller (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago) also registered a runner-up finish with a height of 4.27 meters (14-0) in the pole vault. Adam Goljohann and
Jack McGinn (Madison, Wis./McFarland) were sixth and eighth respectively in the event.
The horizontal jumps saw
Shelvin Garrett II (Beloit, Wis./Memorial) winning his signature event, the triple jump. His leap of 14.73 meters (48-4) is the third best by a DIII athlete this season.
Jordan Hall (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn) and
Aiden Neduzak (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa) made it a Warhawk sweep of the top three while Conner Anderson and
Max Wallace (West Allis, Wis./Hale) were fifth and seventh respectively. VanZile led UWW in the long jump with a leap of 6.55 meters (21-6) to finish third.
Ethan Molzahn (Wauconda, IL/) was sixth in the event.
Tyler Jensen (Hilbert, Wis./Hilbert) and
Sean Larsen (Waukesha, Wis./South) paced the Warhawks in the throws with wins in the discus and hammer throw. Jensen won the discus with a throw of 46.69 meters (153-2). Larsen was fourth in the event, but won the hammer with a heave of 50.85 meters (166-10). Jensen finished seventh.
Jordan Jackson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) added an eighth-place finish in the shot put with a distance of 12.12 meters (39-9.25).
Cystrunk led UW-Whitewater in the javelin with a toss of 47.96 meters (157-4).
Jackson Koppen (Sun Prairie, Wis./East) finished fifth and Bunton eighth to round out the Warhawks in the top eight.
UW-Whitewater's top relay squad of Stanger, VanZile, McFadden and Rindt won the 4x100 with a time of 42.20.
