The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's track and field team competed in their last home meet of the 2024 season. The Warhawks had a total of 17 personal bests and 12 season bests in the meet.
The Warhawks claimed silver and bronze in the 110m Hurdles, as
Marlon Cystrunk (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) and
Tamir Thomas (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) finished exactly 0.1 seconds a part. In a very close race, Cystrunk timed in at a season-best 14.66 with Thomas at 14.76.
Thomas would also place fourth in the 400m hurdles, timing in at 58.29. He was joined by
Cole Worrall (Rhinelander, WI/) and
Wyatt Baker (Wayzata, MN/) in the top 10. Worrall (5th-58.67) and Baker (7th-59.46) each hit season bests in the event.
Finishing off the sprints, The Warhawks had three spots in the top 10 of the 200m Dash.
Ben Bojar (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) finished 5th overall, with a time of 22.39.
Kobe Chandler (Beloit, WI/Memorial) was right behind him, timing in at 22.44.
Andy VanZile (New Berlin, Wis./West) also claimed a top-10 spot, finishing 9th with a time of 22.62.
The Warhawks also highlighted the distance events, with all four 800m runners finishing in the top 15.
Rhett Reuter (Darlington, Wis./Darlington) (2nd-1:55.08),
Colin Lewandowski (Elmhurst, Ill./York) (3rd-1:56.37), and
Drew Davey (Elkhorn, WI/) (5th-1:57.71) all ran season-highs.
Josh Anhalt (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) rounded out the four, finishing 13th overall with a time of 1:59.58.
In the 1500m run,
Dan Anderson (Eau Claire, Wis./McDonell) took the silver, running a 3:56.82 for a new personal best.
Chris Allen (Downers Grove, Ill./North) finished behind him, clocking in at 3:58.49 (also a personal best) for fourth place.
Heading over to the field events,
Tyler Jensen (Hilbert, Wis./Hilbert) topped the discus throw, Jensen threw a 46.26m (151-09) on his first attempt, placing fourth overall.
Jensen also placed 9th overall in the hammer throw, throwing a personal best 48.20 (158-02).
Sean Larsen (Waukesha, Wis./South) took the bronze in the same events, with a personal best of 53.62 (175-11) on his 5th throw of the night. Two other Warhawk throwers,
Kasey Skabroud (Ladysmith, Wis./Bruce) (18th-45.89m) and Mason Bauers (30th-37.26m) also PR'd in the event.
In the Javelin Throw, Cystrunk placed fourth, with a season best of 51.02m (167-05). The Warhawks also had a top five finish in the high jump, with
Spencer Steffen (Appleton, Wis./West) leaping a season-best of 1.92m (6-03.50).
In the Triple Jump, both
Jordan Hall (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn) and
Aiden Neduzak (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa) finished in the top five. Hall placed third overall, leading a 13.93m (45-08.50). Neduzak placed 5th with a 13.46m (44-02.00).
The Warhawks will now prepare for the WIAC Outdoor Championships. UWW Track & Field will head to UW-Platteville on Friday, May 3rd for the two-day event.
