The 22nd-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Men's Tennis team took on the 12th-ranked Gustavus Adolphus team on Friday night. A back-and-forth meet came down to the last two matches to decide the winner, with the Warhawks coming out on top 5-4,

In the double matches, the Warhawks picked up a win at the third-flight, with Drew Van Fossen (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) and Theo Billson (Brighton, UK/BHASVIK) taking the win 8-4. The Gusties took the second-flight and eventually the first-flight. In that top flight, Luke VanDonslear (Marion, Iowa/Linn Mar) and Reuben Giorgio (Perth, Western Australia/Applecross) were even all the way with the pair from Gustavus. The match went into a tiebreaker, with the Golden Gusties taking a narrow 9-7 tie breaker.

With the Gusties up 2-1 after the double matches, VanDonslear balanced the scoreboard with a win at the first-flight of singles. VanDonslear's match took less than an hour, as he took a 6-2, 6-1 victory. 

The Gusties went back up 3-2 after a win at the sixth-singles flight, but Tyler Nelson (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) won 6-3, 6-3 at the third-flight. Then it was Reuben Giorgio (Perth, Western Australia/Applecross) who gave UW-Whitewater a 4-3 lead, with a 6-4, 7-5 win at 2-doubles

With just two matches left, Theo Billson (Brighton, UK/BHASVIK) and Drew Van Fossen (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) were battling in third sets at the fifth and fourth flights. Billson took a very close first set with a tiebreaker win 9-7. He fell in the second set, but bounced back in the third match, taking the game winning point with a 6-3 third set. 

At #4 singles, Van Fossen battled back after a falling in the first set. He took the second set 6-4. In a tightly battled third set, Van Fossen forced a third set tiebreaker, but fell in a hard fought 7-5 tiebreak.
