The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's track and field team competed at two meets Thursday and Friday. The majority of Warhawks participated in the First Chance Invitational hosted by North Central College while some from the distance squad ran in the WashU Distance Carnival in St. Louis.
In Naperville, a number of UWW men won their events including a top three sweep in the 200.
Ben Bojar (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) paced the event with a time of 22.16 followed by
Andy VanZile (New Berlin, Wis./West) (22.32) in second and
Cam Hughes (St. Charles, IL/North) in third (22.37).
Hughes was golden in the 100 with a clocking of 10.82 while Bojar finished fourth with a time of 10.96. Meanwhile, in the longest event of the day,
Chris Allen (Downers Grove, Ill./North) was the top finisher in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 32.17.55.
In the 110 hurdles,
Marlon Cystrunk (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) was tops crossing the line in 15.24.
Tristan Ropiak (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) added a fourth place finish crossing the line in 16.23. Cystrunk also finished on the podium in the javelin with a fourth-place distace of 48.56 meters.
In the 400,
Kobe Chandler (Beloit, WI/Memorial) was the first to cross the finish line recording a time of 50.54.
Brad Heller (Brookfield, WI/East) finished sixth (51.22) in the event.
Shelvin Garrett II (Beloit, Wis./Memorial) picked up a gold in the first outdoor meet of the season after posting a leap of 6.86 meters in the long jump.
Ethan Molzahn (Wauconda, IL/) was sixth with a distance of 6.54 meters. In the triple jump, the Warhawks swept 2-3-4 led by
Aiden Neduzak's (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa) leap of 13.46 meters.
Connor Anderson (Waukesha, Wis./North) followed with a distance of 13.08 and
Max Wallace's (West Allis, Wis./Hale) 12.99 meters was good for fourth.
Tyler Jensen (Hilbert, Wis./Hilbert) had the top finish for the UWW men in the throws. The junior's heave of 47.33 meters in the discus was second-best at the meet.
Other top eight finishers at North Central included: Jonathan Weah in the high jump (8th - 1.73m),
Brady Schaller (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago) in the pole vault (3rd - 4.10m),
Jordan Jackson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) in the shot put (8th - 12.90m),
Sean Larsen (Waukesha, Wis./South) in the hammer throw (4th - 51.18m)
The WashU Distance Carnival featured runners from all multiple divisions, junior colleges and a number of running clubs.
Justin Krause (Ixonia, Wis./Pewaukee) had the top finish for the Warhawks. His time of 3:51.55 in the 1,500 meter run claimed bronze at the meet.
Gunner Schlender (Brillion, Wis./Brillion) was clocked in 3:53.99 to finish tenth in the event.
Schlender added a second tenth-place finish with a time of 14:10.67 in the 5,000 meter run. In the 10,000 meter run,
Dan Anderson (Eau Claire, Wis./McDonell) posted a top 30 time of 30:38.87.
