The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater wrestling team was represented by a number of Warhawks competing in the Don Parker Open hosted by UW-Eau Claire Saturday. Justin Fortugno (Armonk, N.Y./Byram Hills) finished second at 141 pounds while Gavin Kohel (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) was third in the 184-pound bracket to lead UWW. 

Fortugno, ranked 12th nationally at 141 pounds, opened the day with three consecutive technical fall wins to advance to the semifinal. He topped a Division II opponent in the semifinal before falling to an unattached wrestler by 11-8 decision in the championship. 

Kohel received a first round bye before pinning his first opponent on the day. He added a decision in the quarterfinal but fell to a Division II wrestler in the semis. Kohel went on to secure third via medical forfeit. 

John Fortugno (Armonk, N.Y./Byram Hills) (Armonk, N.Y./Byram Hills) added a fifth place finish for UWW at 133 pounds. Following a first round bye, Fortugno won by technical fall before dropping a quarterfinal bout against a Division II wrestler. He won his first consolation round matchup before winning the fifth-place battle by decision.
