The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater track and field program hosted the high-powered Midwest ELITE Invitational in Kachel Fieldhouse Saturday.
Gracie Holland (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) headlined the invite with a program record in the pole vault - a mark that currently leads Division III.
Holland battled it out with the former national-leader in the pole vault competition Saturday. By the end, it was Holland's mark of 4.08 meters that was tops at the meet for a new program record and the best pole vault height in Division III this season. Teammates
Ella Maher (Rockford, Ill./Winnebago) and
Zoe Jenks-Recker (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) added points to the team total finishing sixth and eighth respectively.
In the 60-meter dash,
Tina Shelton (Janesville, Wis./Parker) crossed the line in 7.58 to finish second to the national-leader in the event. Her mark is currently second-fastest in Division III this season. In the hurdles version of the 60,
Lena Becker (Toulon, Ill./Stark County) captured seventh with a time of 9.66 seconds.
Danielle Pouska (Algonquin, IL/Jacobs) added eighth-place points to the team total with a clocking of 26.53 in the 200.
In the final track event of the evening, UWW's combination of
Hannah Bilodeau (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem),
Katie McNamara (Geneva, Ill./Geneva),
Abby Giese (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail) and
Lily Cooper (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn) crossed the line in sixth with a time of 4:04.45 in the 4x400.
The top field event for the Warhawk women was the weight throw.
Kenni Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) finished fourth with a heave of 17.25 meters. Teammate
Mikayla Madlena (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) registered a toss of 16.41 meters for seventh. Meanwhile,
Rileigh Elgas (Janesville, Wis./Craig) posted a leap of 10.54 meters in the triple jump - good for eighth.
Brandon Gang (Waukesha, Wis./West) and
Shelvin Garrett II (Beloit, Wis./Memorial) led the Warhawk men. Gang was the first to cross the line in the 3000 registering a time of 8:53.95. Garrett II paced UWW on the field side with a first-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 15.31 meters.
Kobe Chandler (Beloit, WI/Memorial) secured silver in the 400 with a clocking of 50.48 while
Chris Kalies (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) was fifth in the event with a time of 50.90.
Myles Anderson (Milwaukee, Wis./Lutheran) finished fifth in the fastest event of the day, the 60, with a time of 6.94 seconds. Two Warhawks added points to the team total in the 60 hurdles led by a fourth-place time of 8.25 from
Tamir Thomas (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls).
Marlon Cystrunk (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) crossed the line in 8.35 for sixth.
Ben Bojar (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) was clocked in 22.51 to finish seventh in the 200.
Craig Hundley (Grayslake, IL/North) also added seventh-place points with a time of 4:15.36 in the mile.
Dan Anderson (Eau Claire, Wis./McDonell) was the top Warhawk in the 5000 with a time of 14:46.85 for sixth.
In the final race of the day, UWW's squad of Chandler, Kalies, Thomas and
Brad Heller (Brookfield, WI/East) were clocked in 3:24.61 to finish fourth in the 4x400 relay.
In the field events,
Ben Bunton (Hartford, Wis./Hartford) and
Spencer Steffen (Appleton, Wis./West) each finish among the top eight in the high jump. Bunton's jump of 1.93 meters was fifth while Steffen posted a height of 1.88 meters for seventh.
Sean Larsen (Waukesha, Wis./South) paced UWW in the throws with a heave of 16.72 meters to secure seventh.
The Warhawks also sent a five-Warhawk contingent to a meet hosted by Boston University Saturday. Running against some of the top athletes in the nation,
Christian Patzka (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) posted a time of 13:51.93 in the 5000 - the top mark in Division III this season by nearly nine seconds. Teammate
Gunner Schlender (Brillion, Wis./Brillion) crossed the line in 14:04.34 to register the sixth-fastest time in DIII in 2024.
In the mile,
Justin Krause (Ixonia, Wis./Pewaukee) was clocked in 4:13.63 for the men while
Ari De La Cerda (Milwaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) represented the Warhawk women with a time of 5:05.26.
Paige Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) competed in the 800, crossing the line in 2:20.45.
