The No. 7 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team wrapped up the 2024 non-conference slate with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-18) win at Elmhurst Wednesday evening.
The Warhawks were stellar on the bookends of the match hitting over .300 in the first and third sets. Meanwhile the defense held the Bluejays to an attack percentage of just .092 in the contest.
UWW held the advantage the entirety of both the first and third set. The second set was a back-and-forth battle early until the Warhawks went on a 6-0 run to take a 20-14 lead. Elmhurst would cut the margin to one, 22-21, but UW-Whitewater tallied the next three points to seal the win.
Outside hitters
Alayna Jansky (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) and
Jenna Weinfurt (Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) led UWW with nine kills each. Middles
Abbie Dix (Brodhead, Wis./Brodhead) and
Hannah Proctor (Durand, Ill./Durand) tallied seven and four kills respectively.
Defensively,
Jaedynn Evans (Kalona, Iowa/Iowa City Regina) paced the Warhawks with 11 digs.
UW-Whitewater will head to UW-Stout for the regular season finale Friday at 7 pm. Friday's matches across the league will determine seeding for the WIAC Tournament scheduled to begin Tuesday, November 12.
