Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Conference Play opens with 1-1 Draw against UWEC

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team opened up conference play with a 1-1 draw against UW-Eau Claire on Fiskum Field.

First Half
Both teams had some high-offensive pressure in the beginning minutes of the game.  In the first 15-minutes, UW-Eau Claire put four shots towards net and UW-W recorded one.

The Blugolds found the back of the net first, scoring on a header into the top of the net at the 22nd-minute.

Down by one-goal, the Warhawks increased the offensive attack, but the Blugold defense stayed strong, holding off any oppurtunity for the Warhawks

Second Half
After the break, the Warhawks made some changes offensively and kept the ball on their side of the field for most of the second half.

The first three Warhawk shots were all on target, but the Blugold goalie made the saves needed.

UW-Whitewater finally put one through in the 67th-minute to draw the game. Rachel Cvikel (Franklin, Wis./Saint Thomas More) sent a rocket from outside of the box into the top-right corner out of reach from the Blugold defender.

The Warhawks kept up the offensive pressure, putting four more shots up after the goal, but were unable to find the go-ahead goal. The Bluegolds had a few oppurtunities late, including a 1-v-goalie breakaway, but Greta Harms (Pewaukee, Wis./Arrowhead) locked up the goalie, making two saves in the second half.

In the waning minutes, both teams took a few looks on net, but neither found the goal resulting in the 1-1 stalemate.
