The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team were unable to find an equalizer in their 1-0 loss to UW-Platteville. With the win, UW-Platteville retains posession of the Shaymus Guinn Cup for the second consecutive year.
The Shaymus Guinn Cup is named in honor of the son of Warhawk head coach
Tony Guinn, who passed away in 2012 at the age of 11 after a five-year battle with pediatric cancer and chemotherapy-induced A.L.L. leukemia.
The Shaymus Guinn Foundation benefits awareness for pediatric cancer and assists families coping with the disease. Visit the foundation's web page to learn more.

First Half
From the get-go, the game looked like it was going to be a physical battle, with neither team gaining much footing in the offensive zones.
The Pioneers recorded the first two shots after a bit of extended pressure, but
Matthew Vollmer (Lake Zurich, Ill./Lake Zurich) made the save on both.
Aidian Martin (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) put the first shot on goal for the Warhawks, threading the ball through multiple defenders, but the Pioneer keeper made the diving save to keep UWW off the board.
UW-Platteville added the only goal of the night with a carom shot off the keeper. The Pioneers capitalized on the rebound, going up 1-0 in the 29th minute.
Second Half
The Warhawk defense locked down the Pioneers in the second half, but the defense was unable to turn into offense as the Warhawks were held off the board themselves.
UW-Platteville didn't record a single shot on goal in the final 45 minutes, with the Warhawks keeping the game close at 1-0.
However, UWW only recorded one shot in the final 45 minutes, with UW-Platteville holding away the tying goal.
