The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team fell 2-1 to UW-Stevens Point on Saturday evening. All three goals of the game were scored in the first half, with the Warhawks unable to find the equalizer in the second frame.
First Half
The Warhawks looked to bounce back early, with UW-Stevens Point finding the first goal of the game in the 8th minute.Â
Emily Thill (West Chicago, Ill./St. Francis) had an opportunity soon after, recording the first shot for UWW in the 14th minute. The Pointer keeper made the save, keeping the game 1-0.
UW-Stevens Point expanded their lead in the 24th-minute, creating a two-goal lead in the first half.
The Warhawks closed the gap with 6-minutes remaining in the half. Thill found the back of the net with a free-kick goal from just outside of the box.Â
UWSP took a shot in the 44th-minute, but
Greta Harms (Pewaukee, Wis./Arrowhead) made the save, keeping the Warhawks in the game heading into the break.
Second Half
Both teams were not able to get momentum going offensively in the second half.Â
The Warhawks were unable to get off a shot on goal in the half, with the Pointers recording three.
UW-Stevens Point held onto the lead, winning the contest 2-1 after the first half scoring.Â
