The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team swept Carthage 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-18) in Russell Arena Friday night.
The Warhawk offense hit .437 in the match hammering down 39 kills while the defense held the Firebirds to an attack percentage of just .022.
UWW set the tone in the opener hitting .556 with 12 kills in 18 attempts with just a pair of attack errors. Outside hitter
Jenna Weinfurt (Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) led the way with four kills in five attempts without a miscue.
The offense wasn't quite as a efficient in set two but the defense stepped up with five total blocks including four from
Hannah Proctor (Durand, Ill./Durand) and three from
Ally Warburton (St. Charles, Ill./North).
The Warhawk offense was back to its opening set form hitting .552 with 19 kills in 29 attempts and 3 errors.
Alayna Jansky (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) was unstoppable with seven kills in eight attempts without an error in the set.
For the match, Jansky hit .476 with 12 kills while Weinfurt added 10 kills. Proctor hit .600 in the contest with 6 kills in 10 attempts without an error.
Defensively, the Warhawks totaled 10 blocks bolstered by six from Proctor and four each from Jansky, Warburton and
Abbie Dix (Brodhead, Wis./Brodhead). Jansky also posted a team-high nine digs.
Aubrie Krzus (Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South) dished out 34 assists in the match.
UWW returns to Russell Arena for a noon match against Saint Mary's (MN) Saturday.
