The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater wrestling team finished 3rd overall in the 32 team field at the Pete Wilson Invitational hosted by Wheaton College.

Individually, Whitewater picked up a gold medal, two third place finishes, a fourth place finish, and a seventh place finish.

In the 157 weight class, Jermaine Butler (Homewood, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) picked up the championship after storming through the first three rounds. Butler had a a tech fall in the first round, followed by two pins in the second and third round. In the Semifinal match, Butler came away with the sudden victory point over Nathan Callaway from Mount Union. Butler finished out the tournament with a 10-2 Major decision over Garret Cornell from Messiah College to pick up the gold medal.

Dominik Malinder and Ryan Riser (Bloomingdale, Ill./Lake Park) from 133 pound and 174 pound respectively claimed third in their weight classes. Malinder recorded three technical falls before falling in the semifinals. Bouncing back, Malinder defeated Tyler Fleetwood from UW-Eau Claire and Jude Robson from Roanoke to collect third.

Riser made it to the semifinals in the 174 bracket, and went on to secure third with a win over Trotzer form UWSP.
