The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team, ranked tenth in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, picked up a pair of wins in its high-powered home invitational Friday. The Warhawks topped the College of Saint Benedict 3-1 25-15, 25-10, 17-25, 25-18) before registering a 3-1 (26-24, 24-26, 25-15, 25-21) win over No. 16 Transylvania to cap the night in Russell Arena.

The six-team invite features five teams ranked among the top 16 in the AVCA poll including No. 3 UW-Oshkosh, No. 6 Northwestern-St. Paul, No. 7 Washington University in St. Louis, No. 10 UWW and No. 16 Transylvania. The Warhawks will take on WashU tomorrow afternoon at 3 pm to wrap up the invitational.

Jenna Weinfurt (Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) was on fire from the outside in the first match of the night. In four sets, she hammered down 19 kills while committing just three attack errors. Weinfurt was unstoppable in the third set posting 7 kills in 13 swings with no errors.

Kirsten Anderson (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) hit a phenomenal .667 from the middle registering 13 kills in 18 attempts with a single error. Weinfurt and Hannah Proctor (Durand, Ill./Durand) led the Warhawks defensively at the net four assist blocks each.

In the backcourt, Morgan Jensen (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) dug up 23 attack attempts with Weinfurt adding 10 digs on the match. Aubrie Krzus (Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South) ran the offense dishing out 37 assists in the contest.

In the second match of the evening, Payton Kuepers (Madison, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) sparked a fantastic comeback. The Warhawks trailed 19-8 at one point in the first set before rallying to win the opener 26-24. Kuepers hammered down five kills in ten swings with one error in the first.

For the match, Weinfurt nearly matched her kill output in the second outing of the day with 18 kills including 8 in the final set alone. Fellow outside big swinger Allyson Warburton registered a career high 14 kills while Kuepers was one shy of double digits.

At the net defensively, Anderson's presence frustrated the opposing hitters as she posted a solo and seven assist blocks. Warburton teamed up on five blocks and Proctor added four in the contest. In the backcourt, Jensen refused to let a ball drop with 30 digs. Ally Longden (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) added 11 digs on the match.
