The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team fell to Gustavus Adolphus College in the second round of a NCAA Regional in St. Peter, Minn. Saturday morning.

The Warhawks faced a 3-0 deficit after doubles play Saturday. At No. 1
John Zakowski (Green Bay, Wis./Southwest) and
Luke VanDonslear (Marion, Iowa/Linn Mar) fell to Nick Aney and Ddaniel Fouchier 8-4.
Payton Adkisson (Lincolnshire, Ill./Stevenson) and
Josh Baldwin (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) dropped their bout at No. 3 to Marco Siviero and Sourabh Terakanambi by the same score. At No. 2 doubles,
Cole Lindwall (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) and
Tyler Nelson (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) fell to Alex Budde and Gage Gohl 8-5.
Zakowski registered a win at No. 1 singles topping Aney 6-1, 6-1. GAC sealed the win with wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Budde defeated
Will Ulrich (Lincoln, Neb./Pius X) 6-3, 6-1 and Rafael De Camargo Costa topped
Andrew Dumbauld () 6-3, 6-4.
As NCAA tournament matches are played to decision, all other singles bouts were abandoned once GAC recorded its fifth point. Also competing in singles action for UWW were VanDonslear, Lindwall and Nelson at 2-3-4 respectively.
The Warhawks wrap up the 2022-23 campaign with a 17-6 dual record. Zakowski was selected to compete in the NCAA Individual Championships and will represent UW-Whitewater in singles action later this month.
Friday Recap vs. MSOE
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team opened NCAA regional action with a 5-0 sweep of Milwaukee School of Engineering in St. Peter, Minnesota. The Warhawks advance to face regional host Gustavus Adolphus College Saturday at 10 a.m.
UWW's No. 1 doubles pairing posted the first win of the day for the Warhawks.
John Zakowski (Green Bay, Wis./Southwest) and
Luke VanDonslear (Marion, Iowa/Linn Mar) defeated Miguel Lopez and Clark Rue 8-1. Just a few minutes later, the No. 3 doubles match went final with
Payton Adkisson (Lincolnshire, Ill./Stevenson) and
Josh Baldwin (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) combining for an 8-1 win over Joshua Fay and Alex Nakasato.
The final doubles match featured
Tyler Nelson (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) and
Cole Lindwall (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) defeating Jo Zhao Chong and Jachym Smid 8-5.
Nelson had the first singles score to come in with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Rue at No. 4. VanDonslear sealed the win with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Lopez at No. 2.
