The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team dropped a pair of games at UW-Stevens Point Saturday. The Warhawks fell 2-1 in the opener and 6-3 in the second game of the twinbill. The nightcap was called in the middle of the sixth inning due to weather following a more than two hour rain/lightning delay.
UWW took the lead early in game one with
Sam Paden (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) driving in
Adam Cootway (DePere, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) on a single to right center. That score would hold until the seventh.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Pointers plated one on a Warhawk miscue and used a RBI single to left center to take the 2-1 lead.
UW-Whitewater had runners on in the eighth and ninth but couldn't push them across.
The Warhawks accumulated 10 hits in the contest but left 7 runners stranded on the base paths.
Jacob DeMeyer (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander),

The Pointers responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame to reclaim a 6-3 lead.
The game was halted in the middle of the sixth inning due to lightning and rain. After a break of more than two hours, officials called the game. With at least five innings complete, the contest is official.
