The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team defeated Ripon College 11-1 in seven innings in a non-conference game at Prucha Field at James B. Miller Stadium Tuesday afternoon.
Adam Cootway (DePere, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) got the scoring underway with a homerun blast to right field in the bottom of the second.
Matt Scolan (Downers Grove, Ill./South) flew out to center for the sacrifice fly and then
Jacob DeMeyer (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) doubled to left field to drive in two more.
Donovan Brandl (Rudolph, Wis./Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln) extended the gap to 6-0 after just two innings with another two-RBI double.
The Warhawk advantage ballooned to 10-0 by the end of the sixth. In the top of the seventh, Ripon plated one run but DeMeyer had an answer in the bottom of the frame with a RBI single to left that ended the game early via the run-rule.
