The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team topped Pomona College in the squad's final match in California.
Tyler Nelson (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) secured the win as the match was tied heading into his final set at No. 4 singles. He won that set 6-3 to seal the win.
The Warhawks swept doubles play with
John Zakowski (Green Bay, Wis./Southwest) and
Luke VanDonslear (Marion, Iowa/Linn Mar) picking up the win at No. 1 8-7(6). Number 2 doubles went to
Cole Lindwall (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) and Nelson 8-3 and
Payton Adkisson (Lincolnshire, Ill./Stevenson) and
Josh Baldwin (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) registered the win at No. 3 7-7(5).
Zakowski (6-4, 6-2), VanDonslear (6-3, 6-5) and Lindwall (6-3, 6-2) dropped their singles bouts to knot the match 3-3.
Will Ulrich (Lincoln, Neb./Pius X) (6-3, 6-5) and Adkisson (2-6, 5-6) split at No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively.
Nelson wrapped up the match with the 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory to seal the win.
