The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team fell to Hendrix College 7-4 Thursday afternoon in the team's last game in the Studer's Blue Wahoo Challenge in Pensacola, Florida.
The Warriors opene the scoring in the top of the first plating a run on a RBI groundout. The Warhawks responded in their half of the frame as
Andy Thies (Tallahassee, Fla./Lawton Chiles) doubled in a run to make it 1-1.
Hendrix reclaimed the lead with three runs in the third.
Adam Cootway (DePere, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) singled to center driving in a run in the bottom half of the inning to cut the margin to two.
In the sixth,
Nick Paget (New Berlin, Wis./West) came in to score on a wild pitch narrowing the gap to one, 4-3.
The Warriors pushed the lead back to two with a RBI single in the seventh before the Warhawks used a RBI fielder's choice to once again cut the deficit to one, 5-4, in the bottom of the frame.
Hendrix added a pair of cushion runs in the top of the ninth for the final.
Thies led UWW at the plate going 2-4 with a RBI.
Sam Paden (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) suffered the loss in 2.1 innings on the mound.
