The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater got off to a good start in the first half against Millikin. The Big Blue looked to regain some momentum in the second half, but the Warhawks prevailed to earn the 2-1 win.
The first goal came from
Miles Hagen (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) with his left foot, picking the ball out of the air after it bounced between Warhawk and Big Blue players.
Not long after, the Warhawks added a bracer goal.
Andrew Phillips (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) placed a through pace perfectly to
Tucker Jahns (Elburn, Ill./Kaneland) for the the back heel cross.
Mason Diercks (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) finished off the sequence with the goal to the top right corner.
Millikin found their first goal of a well placed set piece. A Millikin throw-in resulted in two headers right into the net.
After a couple of line changes from both teams to keep legs fresh, the Big Blue looked to tie up the game and give the Warhawks their third tie in a row. The UW-Whitewater defense was able to hold off the attack and pick up the 2-1 win.
The Warhawk men will head up to UW-Eau Claire for their next game on Friday, October 6th.
