The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Women's Soccer team was unable to find offensive momentum in the conference battle against UW-Platteville. The Pioneers scored early in the first half and held the 1-0 lead till the end of the match.
UW-Platteville scored first about seven minutes into the game; their first shot on goal connected and gave them the 1-0 lead.Â
UW-Platteville took 11 shots with five on goal and also had five corner opportunities. The Warhawks could not get anything going offensively, not recording a single shot or corner opportunity in the first half.
The second half was a similar story, but the Warhawks were able to apply more pressure than the first half, putting two shots towards the goal. The Warhawks had an opportunity to score on their one corner kick of the game in the second half, but Platteville was able to clear the ball, holding UW-Whitewater scoreless.Â
Jude Dobrinska (Milwaukee, Wis./Ronald Reagan College Prep) had eight saves in the 1-0 loss, playing the full 90 minutes in net.
Juliana Madonia (Schaumburg, Ill./James B. Conant) and
Emily Thill (West Chicago, Ill./St. Francis) recorded a shot each, but no Warhawk was able to place a shot on goal in the contest.Â
The women's soccer team will return home to Fiskum Field this Saturday. The Warhawks will take on the Blue Devils of UW-Stout on October 21st at 4 PM.
