The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Women's Golf team competed in the Golfweek October Classic at Baytowne Golf Club in Sandestin, Florida. The Warhawks finished 18th out of 24 teams which included 15 teams that were ranked in the Top 25 WGCA Poll.
As a team, UW-Whitewater shot 323 the first round. The next day, the Warhawks improved and shot 316. The Warhawks recorded their best score of the contest in the third round, with a 304, a 5th best mark in Warhawk history.
Ellie Johnson (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) led the Warhawks with a 228 total, finishing tied for 26th out of 120 golfers. Johnson shot 82 in the first round, but improved each day, shooting 75 and 71 in the second and third rounds. The 71 in the third round matches the second top score in Warhawk history (Johnson holds the top mark with a 69 on 9/16/2023).
Lily Sheppard (Sherwood, Wis./Kaukauna) and
Abbie Reiser (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) both finished with a 235 total. Sheppard shot 80 on Round 1 and Round 2 and improved to 75 on Round 3. Reiser shot 81 the first day, then added on a 75 in Round 2 and a 79 in Round 3.
Haley Myers (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) (250: 82-81-87),
Kallie Lux (Janesville, Wis./Craig) (251: 80-92, 79), and
Kellie Shanahan (Wauconda, Ill./Mundelein) (251: 86-86-79) also competed for the Warhawks in Florida.
The Women's Golf team will return to action in the spring of 2024, concluding their fall portion of the season in Florida.
