The UW-Whitewater men's soccer team topped Milikin University 2-0 on the road Thursday evening.
The Warhawks entered the scoring column just over five minutes into the contest. Drawing a corner kick, UW-W sent the ball to back post. It was perfectly headed across center where
Evan Donini (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) finished off the play finding the back of the net to make it 1-0.
Andres Villarreal (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) and
Matthew Waters (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) registered the assists on the goal.
That score held until the 73rd minute.
Zack Kristy (Burr Ridge, Ill./Lyons Township), the Warhawks' throw-in extraordinaire, launched the ball over 30 yards into the box. The Big Blue attempted to clear but the ball happened to find
Nolan Ehlers (Grayslake, Ill./Warren Township) just outside the box for a powerful one-timer from distance. His rocket of a shot blew by everyone and into the top left of the goal to all but seal the win.
Matthew Vollmer (Lake Zurich, Ill./Lake Zurich) was selected for the start in goal and went full time to pick up his first win of the season in net registering a save along the way.
