The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's volleyball team improved to 4-0 with a pair of sweeps to wrap up play in the Wisconsin Blast Saturday. The sixteenth-ranked Warhawks took down Finlandia and Simpson in straight sets.
UW-W hit over .230 in each set including a .360 attack percentage with 12 kills to three errors in the third set. The Warhawks set the pace from the service line tallying 13 aces in the contest including three from
Bella Been (Manhattan, Ill./Lincoln-Way West).
Payton Kuepers (Madison, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) led the Warhawks offensively with eight kills.
Emma Munter (Woodbury, Minn./Tartan) added a solo and two block assists.
Ally Longden (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) held down the backcourt with a match-high nine digs and
Emma Bludgen (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) posted 23 assists.
The Warhawks held on to their momentum despite having a match break and came out on fire. UW-W rattled off the first five points of the match bolstered by a
KellyAnn Sotiros (New Berlin, Wis./West Allis Hale) ace and three kills. Whitewater continued that pace hitting .571 in the opening set with 14 kills to just two errors.
UW-W ended up hitting .324 for the match but the difference came from the service line. The Warhawks registered 16 aces in the contest, seventh-most in a match in program history. Sotiros and
Morgan Jensen (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) combined for 11.
Allyson Warburton (St. Charles, Ill./North) was phenomenal at the net with 10 kills in 15 attempts without committing a single error for an attack percentage of .667.
Hannah Proctor (Durand, Ill./Durand) led UW-W defensively at the net with a solo and five assist blocks. Jensen added a team-high ten digs while Sotiros tallied 19 assists.
