The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, ranked ninth in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, won its fifth straight match with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-21) over Elmhurst.
The Warhawks prevailed through a back-and-forth battle with the Bluejays to secure the sweep Tuesday evening on the road. UW-Whitewater hit .205 for the match while holding Elmhurst to a .143 attack percentage. Once again the Warhawks put the pressure on from the service line with a 9-5 advantage in aces to bolster the win.
Two Warhawk hitters hit in double figures on the night led by
Jenna Weinfurt's (Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) 13 kills.
Erin McNeil (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) added 10 kills and a block in the match.
KellyAnn Sotiros (New Berlin, Wis./West Allis Hale) and
Emma Bludgen (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) combined for 34 assists.
Morgan Jensen (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) held down the backcourt with 16 digs while
Hailey Mackenthun (Webster, Minn./Northfield) added 10. Sotiros led UW-W from the service line with three aces. Jensen and Bludgen had two a piece.
