The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's volleyball team hosted Coe College in the program's annual Dig Panici Classic in honor of a former Warhawk volleyball player Lisa Panici Friday evening. The Warhawks won the battle of the 'Hawks defeating Coe 3-0 (25-18, 28-26, 25-18).

The Warhawks jumped out to a 6-1 lead forcing an early Coe timeout. The Kohawks responded out of the break evening the set, but the UW-W offense was too much. Whitewater hit .263 in the set hamming down 14 kills while holding Coe to just .043.

Set two was a game of runs. The Warhawks opened the set on a 14-4 run. The Kohawks captured momentum on a huge swing going on an 11-0 run to take a 15-14 lead in set two and force a UW-W timeout. With no timeouts remaining, Whitewater opted for a change to the offense to break the momentum after a few Coe points switching to a 5-1. The Warhawks began to swing the momentum back in their favor eventually taking a 23-18 advantage in the set. The Kohawks battled back sending the set into extra points before
Emma Bludgen (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) secured the win with a fantastic serve that hit the top of the net and rolled over for the ace.

The third set was all Whitewater with the Warhawks hitting nearly .300 and holding the Kohawks to .074 attack percentage.

Three Warhawks tied for match-high honors with nine kills including
Erin McNeil (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge),
Jenna Weinfurt (Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) and
Kirsten Anderson (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie).
Hannah Proctor (Durand, Ill./Durand) led UW-W defensively at the net with four blocks while Weinfurt added four aces from the service line.
