The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team fell to Luther College 2-1 at Fiskum Field Wednesday night.
The teams battled through a scoreless first half. The Norse outshot the Warhawks 8-3 in the period, but statistically the rest of the half was even between the two squads.
Luther broke the stalemate just seconds into the second half on a long shot from outside the box. The Norse added a second goal in the 68th minute.
UW-Whitewater cut the deficit in half with a goal off of a corner kick in the 86th minute. As the ball was sent in, it found the foot of
Jalen Holley (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa East) in traffic. He was able to settle and direct a low shot through defenders and into the back of the net to make it 2-1.
The Warhawks pushed for the equalizer but ran out of time.
Jake King (McHenry, Ill./McHenry West) recorded the full game in goal for Whitewater registering three saves in the contest.
