The Warhawks dropped their first match Saturday, 3-1 (25-18, 22-25, 25-22, 25-22) to Millikin University. UW-W struggled to gain momentum offensively in the match.
Kirsten Anderson (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) led UW-W at the net with 10 kills in 26 attempts while committing just a single error, an attack percentage of .346. She added a team high three assist blocks.
KellyAnn Sotiros (New Berlin, Wis./West Allis Hale) and
Haley Ikeda (Fairfax, Iowa/Prairie) combined to set up Warhawk hitters with 29 assists. Defensively, Sotiros posted 23 digs followed by Jensen's 18.
UW-Whitewater bounced back with a three-set (25-18, 25-17, 26-24) win over Lakeland. The offense came to life in the second match of the day as the Warhawks hit .344 in the first set with 14 kills.
Ally Warburton and Anderson led UW-W with nine kills each. The duo combined for 18 kills while committing just a single error. Defensively at the net,
Erin McNeil (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) posted four blocks including three solo.
Jenna Weinfurt (Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) led Whitewater in digs with 16 followed by Jensen with 15. Sotiros and Ikeda combined for 34 assists in the final match of the invite.
