The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team continued its six-match road swing to wrap up the regular season Friday with an 8-1 triumph against UW-La Crosse in a New Jersey Athletic Conference West Division dual at Winona Tennis Center in Winona, Minn.
The Warhawks (17-2 overall, 1-0 NJAC) took two of three in doubles play.
Ryan Mitchell (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) and
Niclas Goltz (Freiburg, Germany/Droste-Hülshoff-Gymnasium) put UW-W on the board with an 8-5 triumph at the first position.
Brendan Pietila (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead) and
Payton Adkisson (Lincolnshire, Ill./Stevenson) made it 2-0 with an 8-2 win at the second slot.
After the Eagles (6-9, 0-1) took the final doubles match,
Noah Wankerl (Sauk City, Wis./Sauk Prairie) and
Ryan Mitchell (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) dropped a combined one game in straight-set victories at the Nos. 6 and 4 spots, respectively.
Josh Baldwin (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) clinched the dual with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at No. 5.
Rory Calabria (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) didn't drop a game in a win at No. 2 and
Cole Lindwall (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) was next to finish, tallying a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1.
Alex Gray (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) finished the singles sweep with a 6-3, 7-6 (3) triumph at No. 3.
UW-Whitewater visits UW-Eau Claire for a conference dual next Saturday, April 23. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
