The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's track and field teams each finished among the top three Sunday at the Rex Foster Twilight at Rex Foster Track.
The Warhawk men won the 10-team meet with a team score of 174.5. The women finished third out of 10 teams with a score of 91.5.
Tina Shelton (Janesville, Wis./Parker) and
Gracie Holland (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) each won events to lead the UW-W women. Shelton followed a career-best 12.10 in the prelims of the 100-meter dash with a 12.24 in the final to win the event. Holland collected first place in the pole vault with a height of 12-01.50 (3.70 meters).
Ari De La Cerda (Milwaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) established a new personal record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with an 11:43.14 to finish second in the event. Other runners-up included Pagie Fassbender and
Abigail Missiaen (Muskego, Wis./Muskego). Fassbender crossed the finish line in 2:25.51 in the 800-meter run, while Missiaen tallied a distance of 17-01.50 (5.22 meters) in the long jump.
The Warhawks' 4x100-meter relay team of Holland, Shelton,
Kylie Jacobs (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) and
Jacqueline Kornowski (Green Bay, Wis./Preble) placed third with a time of 49.08 seconds.
Jacobs placed third in the 400-meter dash in 1:01.37.
Rebecca Lawrence (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) tied for third in the high jump with a height of 4-10.25 (1.48 meters).
Christian Patzka (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:21.86, which currently ranks among the top 20 in NCAA Division III.
Josh Krystosek (Palmyra, Wis./Palmyra-Eagle) claimed victory in the high jump with a height of 6-02.75 (1.90 meters).
Other event winners included
Shelvin Garrett II (Beloit, Wis./Memorial) in the triple jump with a distance of 46-07.25 (14.20 meters) and
Landon Keefover (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.78 seconds (14.73 in prelims). Garrett entered the top 15 in the nation in the triple jump with his performance.
Justin Krause (Ixonia, Wis./Pewaukee) won the 800-meter run in 1:59.06 and finished as runner-up in his other event, posting a 3:57.37 in the 1,500-meter run.
UW-W's 4x100-meter relay team of
D'Angelo Dear (Green Bay, Wis./Preble),
Carsen Rindt (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran),
Victor Rinaldi (Medford, Wis./Medford) and Garrett crossed the finish line in 41.73 seconds, good for second in the race and a top 20 mark in NCAA Division III. Rinaldi and Dear finished 2-3 in the 100-meter dash in times of 10.76 and 10.85, respectively.
Daustin Martin (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) entered the top 20 in the nation in the hammer throw with a career-best 178-04 (54.35 meters), good for second place.
Luke Zanis (St. Charles, Ill./North) finished second in the 400-meter dash in a career-best 48.72 seconds, good for a top 20 time in the nation, and third in the 200-meter dash in 22.95 seconds.
The Warhawks visit the UW-Platteville Invitational Friday.
