The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's track and field teams competed for the final time prior to the NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday in last chance meets at Wartburg (Iowa) and Ripon.
Justin Krause (Ixonia, Wis./Pewaukee) highlighted the day for the men with a first-place finish of 4:10.19 in the 1-mile run at Wartburg. His career best time, the second fastest PR in program history, currently ranks 15th in NCAA Division III.
Andrew Lohse (Dixon, Ill./Dixon) and
Sam Uhrich (Beaver Dam, Wis./Beaver Dam) competed in the 800-meter run at Wartburg, placing 15th and 25th, respectively. Lohse posted a personal record of 1:56.69, while Uhrich crossed the finish line in 2:01.49.
On the women's side,
Ari De La Cerda (Milwaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) ran her personal record in the 5,000-meter run in 18:19.71, good for third place and the No. 5 PR in program history.
Paige Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) tallied a 2:17.47 in the 800-meter run to finish 14th overall and establish the No. 4 indoor PR in program history.
At Ripon, the Warhawk men were represented in both track and field events.
Victor Rinaldi (Medford, Wis./Medford) finished fourth in the 60-meter dash in 6.97 seconds and fifth in the 200-meter dash in 22.48 seconds.
Landon Keefover (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) and
Tamir Thomas (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) placed 1-2 in the 60-meter hurdles with times of 8.26 and 8.31 seconds, respectively.
Josh Krystosek (Palmyra, Wis./Palmyra-Eagle) finished second in the high jump with a 6-05.50 (1.97 meters) and
Brayden Zettle (Monroe, Wis./Monroe) tallied a 44-10.25 (13.67) to place fourth in the triple jump.
Qualifiers for the NCAA Indoor Championships are scheduled to be announced Sunday.
